Where to buy
Learners must buy their own textbooks. The school may have second-hand books for sale — ask the office before you buy new.
Textbooks can be bought from any of the following:
- PNA Strand — can order in any title you need
- Protea Book Store
- Polla se Boekwinkel, Paul Roos Gimnasium, Stellenbosch
Ask about second-hand books first
The school frequently has used textbooks available from previous years at a fraction of the retail price. Phone the office on 021 853 7314 before placing an order.
Booklists and stationery lists
Booklists depend on the learner’s grade and subject choice, so the school issues them individually once a place is confirmed and the Grade 10–12 subject choice form has been completed.

Other costs to plan for
- Speciality subjects
- Visual Art, Design, Accounting and Computer Applications Technology carry an additional monthly fee — R130 per subject in Grades 10–11 and R140 in Grade 12. See the fee schedule.
- An eighth subject
- A learner who wants to take an eighth subject can do so at an additional R1 000 per month (R990 at the discount rate).
- Exam support staff
- Where a learner needs additional support in tests and examinations — an extra invigilator, an amanuensis or a reader — parents are responsible for the cost of that support.
- No uniform
- There is no school uniform to buy. Learners are expected to look neat and presentable and to comply with the school’s appearance rules.
