About False Bay High School

One of the first small-class, dual-medium independent high schools in South Africa — and, since 1999, one of the Helderberg’s most consistent.

Our story

Founded on 16 January 1999

False Bay High School was founded by visionary Principal Herman Janse van Rensburg and his wife Lisa Janse van Rensburg on 16 January 1999, in order to provide the best quality education in the Helderberg area.

The school was one of the first small-class, dual-medium private schools in the country. Its dedication to quality education and its Christian roots have undoubtedly made it one of the oldest and best high schools in the Helderberg — if not the country.

As a cosy, small school with class sizes ranging from two to six learners, we create an environment where caring and family values thrive. Our aim is to nurture well-rounded young individuals who embody qualities of capability, respect and kindness.

We strongly believe in fostering personal excellence in all our students. We celebrate hard work, courage to try new things, and a willingness to learn and support others.

At our core

Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence

These four values are not a poster in the foyer. They are the standard every learner is held to, and the standard we hold ourselves to.

Respect

For teachers, for classmates, for the school — and for beliefs different from our own.

Integrity

Doing the honest thing when the marks, the deadline or the crowd say otherwise.

Service

Using what you learn here in the service of others, at school and beyond it.

Excellence

Personal excellence — measured against your own best, not someone else’s.

Leadership

Management & governing body

The purpose of a school governing body is to provide strategic direction, ensure quality education, and promote equal opportunities for all learners.

Registration & accreditation

Independent, but fully accountable

Our curriculum aligns with South Africa’s National Department of Basic Education and is closely monitored by the Western Cape Education Department.
