A world-class education, in the context of South Africa

At False Bay High, curiosity meets excellence. We empower students to thrive academically, creatively and socially — in an environment small enough that every teacher knows every learner by name.

Our curriculum aligns with South Africa’s National Department of Basic Education and is closely monitored by the Western Cape Education Department. We are proud recipients of awards from the WCED for outstanding matric results, and since 2008 our lowest matric average has been an impressive 47%.

That commitment to tailored teaching consistently prepares learners for success in an ever-changing global landscape — which is why False Bay High was recognised as one of the top 15 small schools in South Africa (2022), with the highest number of distinctions in its category.

What sets us apart

Nine reasons parents choose False Bay High

Everything here is built around one idea: that a child taught in a class of four cannot fall behind unnoticed.

World-class standard

A world-class standard of education, delivered within the South African context and the national curriculum.

A Christian foundation

A strong Christian foundation that fosters respect and understanding of other religions.

Only 50 learners a year

To guarantee quality, the school caps enrolment at 50 full-time learners — small classes that give every child individual attention.

Flexible subject choice

Ten electives — including Visual Art, Design, Accounting and CAT — to build the seven subjects each learner takes.

Grades 8 to 12

A complete high-school journey, from the first day of Grade 8 to the National Senior Certificate.

The national curriculum

Full CAPS curriculum, registered with the Department of Basic Education and accredited by Umalusi.

Ten qualified teachers

Every subject is taught by a qualified specialist — not a generalist covering three fields at once.

Real teacher–parent feedback

Email is used to keep parents informed of a learner’s progress. You hear from us early — long before a problem becomes a crisis.

An asset to the community

False Bay High provides an educational asset that serves the wider Helderberg community.

Our values

Respect. Integrity. Service. Excellence.

Four words that decide how we teach, how we discipline and how we treat one another.

Respect

For teachers, for classmates, for the school, and for beliefs different from our own.

Integrity

Doing the honest thing when the marks, the deadline or the crowd say otherwise.

Service

Using what you learn here in the service of others, at school and beyond it.

Excellence

Personal excellence — we celebrate hard work, courage to try new things and a willingness to learn.

Results that travel

Seventeen years. Every learner through.

A 100% matric pass rate is not a marketing line here — it is what has happened, every single year, since 2008.

  • Recognised as one of the top 15 small schools in South Africa (2022), with the highest number of distinctions in its category.
  • Awarded by the Western Cape Education Department for outstanding matric results.
  • Lowest matric average since 2008: 47% — our floor, not our ceiling.
  • Recent top learners have achieved A-symbols across all seven of their subjects.

In their own words

What our learners say

The school offers a lot more than other schools. Their subjects are way more advanced than most schools. The discipline is really good here. All the teachers are exceptionally amazing and they will treat you with the decency and respect that you deserve.

I used to struggle to get good marks at my other school. So my parents and I decided to move me to a new school and we picked False Bay High. I have improved in my work since April and so could your kids.

TylerFormer learner

There is not a lot of children in one class so the teachers have more time to help you. The teachers are very nice and want to listen to your story.
